Lode Premium

Getting Started

Lode Premium

What's free in Lode, what Premium adds, the three plans and the free trial, and how to subscribe, restore, redeem a promo code or cancel.

Lode is free to use with no time limit. Tracking, budgets, bills and automatic logging from your bank’s notifications and Apple Pay cost nothing. Premium adds Lode AI and the full Statistics, and removes the limits on how many accounts, categories and other things you can create.

What’s free

  • Unlimited transactions, budgets and bills.
  • Automatic logging from bank notifications and Apple Pay.
  • 1 account. Archived accounts don’t count.
  • 8 categories and 3 tags of your own. The starter categories Lode creates for you don’t count toward the 8.
  • 3 goals and 3 debts at a time. Completed goals, settled debts and archived ones free up their slot.
  • 1 trip a year, counted by the year the trip starts, and 5 places marked by hand. Countries you visit on a trip don’t count toward the 5.
  • 1 project. A finished project keeps its slot until you delete it.
  • 5 automatic currency conversions a month for new transactions and bills in a currency other than their account’s. The count resets each calendar month, and payments made on the days of a trip don’t use it. Once they’re used up, you can still enter an exchange rate yourself. See Multi-currency & exchange rates.
  • 3 voice entries a month. A use only counts when Lode understood the recording and opened it for review.
  • Siri shortcuts.
  • Monthly Statistics with Income, Expenses, Bills and Net Balance. The arrows take you back to earlier months.
  • The Income, Expenses, Net Balance, Bills, Budget, Quick Glance, Quick Convert, Lode and Passport widgets.
  • Importing from other apps and restoring a Lode backup file. If an import has more accounts, categories, tags, goals or debts than the free plan allows, you choose which ones to bring in.

When you get close to a limit, the list tells you, for example 3 of 3 free goals used.

What Premium adds

  • Lode AI. The AI chat, receipt scanning, unlimited voice entry, and summaries written by AI on screens such as Statistics and Budget.
  • Advanced insights. Weekly and yearly views and Custom Range in Statistics, filters by account, category and tag, the Categories, Daily Cost, Trend, Debts, Goals, Trips and Projects sections, and PDF reports through Export Report. On the free plan these sections are blurred with a Premium label, and Export Report shows a sample report.
  • Unlimited accounts and sharing. Add as many accounts as you need, and share an account you own with family.
  • No limits on categories, tags, goals, debts, trips, places and projects.
  • Unlimited automatic currency conversions.
  • Widgets and export. The Daily Cost, Trend, Categories, Debts and Goals widgets, plus Export Backup and Export CSV in Settings → Backup & Sync.
  • Personalization. The Gold, Ocean, Midnight, Emerald and Prism app icons, and the accent colors Blue, Purple, Pink, Orange and Green.

Plans and the free trial

The Premium screen offers three plans: Monthly, Yearly and Lifetime.

  • Monthly costs $3.99 a month. Cancel anytime.
  • Yearly costs $29.99 a year and starts with a 3-day free trial.
  • Lifetime costs $59.99 once, for full access forever.

Prices are shown in USD and may vary by region. The Premium screen always shows the App Store price for your country, and the Yearly option shows how much you save compared with paying monthly.

The 3-day free trial is for the yearly plan. If you can take it, the button says Start Free Trial — Yearly and the line under the price says Free for 3 days. If you’ve already used the trial, the button says Subscribe — Yearly and you won’t be offered it again. The trial turns into a paid yearly subscription unless you cancel before it ends. Apple asks for at least 24 hours’ notice.

How to subscribe

  1. Open the Premium screen. On the free plan you can get there from:
    • Settings → Premium
    • the Premium button next to the Settings gear on the Dashboard
    • any Premium feature you tap, such as a blurred Statistics section, or adding more than the free plan allows
  2. Choose Monthly, Yearly or Lifetime at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap Subscribe — Monthly, Start Free Trial — Yearly (or Subscribe — Yearly) or Buy Lifetime, then confirm with your Apple ID.

Premium turns on as soon as Apple confirms the purchase. It belongs to the Apple ID you paid with, so it works on your other iPhone and iPad signed into the same Apple ID.

Restore purchases

On a new device or after reinstalling, Lode checks your purchases every time you open it, so Premium usually comes back on its own. If it doesn’t:

  1. Open the Premium screen.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Restore Purchases.

Use the same Apple ID you bought Premium with. If Lode finds nothing, it says No premium purchases found for this Apple ID.

Redeem a promo code

  1. Open the Premium screen.
  2. Tap Have a promo code? under the purchase button.
  3. Enter the code on Apple’s redemption screen and confirm.

Premium turns on once Apple accepts the code. If you received a redemption link rather than a code, open the link on your iPhone. The App Store redeems it, and Lode picks it up.

Change or cancel your plan

Apple handles subscriptions, so you change or cancel them through your Apple ID:

  • In Lode: go to Settings → About and tap Subscription. This opens Apple’s subscription screen, where you can switch between monthly and yearly or cancel.
  • In iOS Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Lode.

When you cancel, Premium stays on until the end of the period you’ve already paid for. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription.

There’s nothing to cancel with Lifetime. Settings → About shows Lifetime access as Active. If you buy Lifetime while a subscription is still running, cancel the subscription yourself, because buying Lifetime doesn’t stop it.

Family Sharing

Family Sharing is turned on for all three plans. If you share purchases with your family through Apple’s Family Sharing, family members get Premium on their own devices with their own Apple ID. If it doesn’t appear, they can tap Restore Purchases.

This is separate from shared accounts, which let people work in the same account in Lode.

When Premium ends

  • Nothing is deleted. Accounts, categories, goals, trips and everything else you created on Premium stay, along with their history. Creating more than the free plan allows will ask for Premium again.
  • Your app icon and accent color go back to Default.
  • Premium features lock again: the AI chat, the extra Statistics sections and periods, exports, and the Premium widgets, which show a Premium placeholder.
  • iCloud sync works the same on both plans.
